Divine reciprocity | Ayni
Why does it sometimes feel like we are stuck and can't achieve the things that we desire to achieve or create that which we desire to create in this world? Why do some people seem to be able to manifest everything they desire while others repeat the same cycles over and over while yearning to break free?
There are a myriad of factors and everyone's situation is unique, of course but understanding that everything in this universe works through relationships and our quality of relationships determines everything is so important.
Karpay is the quechua term for personal power and our karpay is determined by the quality of our ayni which is the quechua word for divine Reciprocity. We build our karpay through ayni.
A great physical example of ayni is the natural exchange between us and plant. We exhale CO2 and the plants take that in and give off oxygen which we then breathe in and then breathe out more CO2 and so on and so forth in an effortless reciprocal flow. What would happen if the plants suddenly stopped giving us oxygen though? we wouldn't be able to breathe in oxygen and this woul not be able to breathe out CO2 and thus both parties are effected and the flow of life stops for both. This is akin to how a breakdown in ayni generates hucha(heaviness) which slows or stops the flow of sami(light).
Ayni is not the alchemical law of equivalent exchange, however. When we send energy to someone or something, we recieve back far more than we gave. Paradoxically, whatever you are sending energy to also recieves far more than it gives. This does not make sense or seem possible to the analytical mind, but most spiritual truths are this way. This is what allows for so much growth and expansion to happen throughout the multiverse. it's what keeps our own universe constantly expanding.
When we go about our lives completely unaware of the reciprocal flows of energy, somw relationships will have perfect ayni, leading to growth and expansion and some will have a breakdown in ayni, leading to hucha being constantly generated which leads to stagnation or worse.
Have you ever known someone who you cared about who it seemed like you were constantly giving and giving to them but they never gave back? did you notice the heaviness and tension in that situation? Similarly, if you've ever just taken and taken from someone without giving back, that doesn't feel light either. But this goes beyond relationships with other human beings. This goes for our relationships with spiritual beings and EVERYTHING is a spiritual being. Your guides, the trees and plants and rocks and animals in the forest you love hiking in, the food you eat, the chair you are sitting on, everything is alive and conscious and we are in relationships with all of them in some form or another. Even within our own bodies, the emotions that we feel, the thoughts we think, we are in relationships with everything within and without.
When we choose to actively engage in ayni, we can start to improve it's quality. We can send our hucha into the earth and in ayni, she will feed us back so much sami. we can send sami to the flowers in a beautiful field and recieve far more sami than we gave and the flowers will also have recieved far more than they gave and in this way, everything we consciously work to build ayni with grows along with us! This is how we build our karpay, our personal power and our Karpay is what determines our ability to create, to make change, to manifest our desires and to heal ourselves and those around us.
There are many ways to consciously engage in the natural process of ayni and to improve our ayni thus growing our karpay and I can tell you from personal experience, it is not only extremely fun but it feels amazing and is so beautifully empowering.
